Paris | From TikTok to Table: Two Paris Dining Spots That Are Actually Worth the Hype

Scrolling through TikTok for Paris dining recommendations feels a bit like window shopping with an unlimited credit card—except every restaurant claims to be the one you can’t miss. You know exactly what I’m talking about. One moment, you’re sold on a cozy Montmartre bistro with dreamy escargot; the next, you’re debating if a €20 croissant at a swanky café will truly change your life (spoiler: it might). With every flashy video and moody montage, my stomach screamed, "Pick one already!" So, armed with a mix of intrigue, skepticism, and a hunger that no algorithm could satisfy, I set out to try two of the most talked-about spots so you don’t have to drown in the digital sea of recommendations.

Think of this as your foodie shortcut to Paris. I sifted through the comments and the hashtags and got down to the nitty-gritty: what’s actually worth your euros and Instagram story? From flawless steak frites to the viral aligot that ruined me, I let my appetite—and TikTok’s algorithm—take the wheel. Here’s how it went.

After touching down at Charles de Gaulle, I grabbed my luggage (yes, all several pieces—don’t act like you didn’t see this coming), hopped into a taxi, and endured an hour-long tour of Parisian traffic. By the time I reached my hotel, after tangoing with two of the world’s busiest airports in one day, all I wanted was to flop into bed and let room service save my soul. But plot twist! As I check in, I find out this glorious, bells-and-whistles hotel doesn’t do room service. Seriously? You’ve got everything, but the one thing that really counts?

It was creeping up on 9:00 p.m.—aka dangerously close to my bedtime.

Instead of spending the night nibbling biscuits and sipping wine in my room (not as glamorous as it sounds), I decided to rally. I threw on something presentable and set out for dinner, armed with my trusty list of Parisian hotspots. Tonight’s pick: Le Relais de l’Entrecôte.

Luckily, it was just a short stroll from my hotel. But when I got there? Total blackout moment. My watch said one thing; the line of 25+ people said another. Tired, starving, and now in queue purgatory, I muttered to myself, "This place better live up to the hype—or else!"

Roughly an hour later, I made it. The sought-after front-of-the-line spot. THANK GOD.

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte | Walnut Salad

If you’ve never heard of Le Relais de l’Entrecôte, let me enlighten you: it’s one of Paris’s most popular foodie hotspots, known for steak frites so good they’ll have your eyes rolling back like a slot machine jackpot. Add to that its quintessential Parisian bistro vibes, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for culinary bliss.

Once you’re seated at Le Relais de l’Entrecôte, the hardest part of your evening is over. You’ll only need to make two decisions: what wine to sip and how you want your steak cooked—basically, all my exhausted brain could handle that night.

In no time, a walnut salad landed in front of me. Honestly, it took just that and a glass of wine to revive me from the brink of collapse.

Le Relais de l’Entrecôte | Steak and Frites

No sooner had I polished off the salad than my steak and fries arrived. Forget Instagram—I couldn’t resist diving in immediately. The fries? Absolute perfection: golden, salty, crispy, and served piping hot. In fact, I may have demolished the fries before even touching the steak. But trust me, the steak was just as divine.

Mid-meal, the server swept over with reinforcements: more steak, more fries, and, of course, more of that sauce. It’s the kind of sauce that makes you wish they’d bottle it up and sell it by the gallon. Pure magic.

Yes, they only serve one dish. Yes, there’s probably a line, no matter when you show up. And sure, it might have “tourist trap” written all over it. But let me tell you this: the fries and that sauce are worth every second of the wait. This place is an absolute must when you're in Paris.

To all my fellow lovers of rich, cheesy potato perfection: stop everything and get yourself to Ambassade d’Auvergne. This spot popped up on my FYP with their viral Aligot, and let me tell you—I was hooked at first swirl. Sure, some folks might come here for the classic Auvergne dishes or the expertly paired wines. Me? I came for the mashed potatoes so creamy they’re practically a lifestyle. Priorities, people.

Tucked away in the 3rd arrondissement, Ambassade d’Auvergne has been serving up unforgettable meals since 1966. Over the years, it’s become a go-to spot for everything from special celebrations to “just because” indulgences—and trust me, every meal here feels like an occasion in itself.

After a full day of strolling through Paris and giving my credit card a serious workout, I was craving some comfort food. Naturally, one word popped into my head: Aligot. Thankfully, Ambassade d’Auvergne had a seat ready and waiting because this girl needed cheesy potatoes like yesterday.

While TikTok may only hype the Aligot, I did my homework and discovered this place is a quintessential French dining experience. So, I was ready to explore beyond the potatoes. First up: the Wild Mushroom Cassolette, crowned with a perfectly runny egg and a sprinkle of chopped ham. Let me tell you, the contrast of textures was a dream and that ham? Just the right touch of salty goodness. Talk about starting on a high note!

Surprise, surprise! For my main course, I went straight for the classic Beef Steak and Truffle Aligot. Honestly, I could barely contain my excitement—and yes, I made sure to get the perfect potato pull on video for you all. You’re welcome!

Here’s the plot twist TikTok didn’t share: Ambassade d’Auvergne has two types of Aligot. The classic version we all know and love, and a truffle-infused upgrade that I spotted on the menu and immediately squealed over. Truffle Aligot? Say no more!

Looking at the photo below, you might think it will not win any beauty pageants, but let me tell you—it was absolutely incredible. Looks can’t compete with flavor, right?

Obviously, I couldn’t leave without trying the Chocolate Mousse. The server brought out a bowl so big it could’ve been a serving for two—or five. I tried to play it cool and said, “Just a small portion, please,” but after one bite, I was kicking myself for even suggesting such a thing. It was that good. No bite left behind.

After wading through the seat of TikTok recommendations, drooling over every Parisian café, and saving any video that even remotely featured a tasty dish, I can finally say that these two restaurants actually lived up to the hype. Sure, some might label them as tourist traps, but I’m here to tell you—I enjoyed both and would happily recommend them to friends. No regrets, just delicious memories (and a few extra calories).

Until Next Time!

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
