Hello, fellow wine lovers! It's been a minute since I've shared a new wine with you all. To say my schedule has been a little chaotic is an understatement. I've been in London, Montreal and heading to New York at the end of the month. Never fear; I've kept my palate primed and ready sampling some incredible wines during my travels. Even though I've been dining in restaurants more than wandering the aisles of Trader Joe's., I am back for at least a week, and it was necessary to stop by TJ's and stock up on some essentials. Of course, I wandered down the wine aisle and found two new bottles I am excited to share with you. The first is Blue Shell, a Sauvignon Blanc from Southern France.
Watching my car temp creep upwards of 100 degrees, I decided that I was only going for something that would relieve me from the summer heat. Rather than fill a glass with ice cubes, I placed the bottle in the freezer for a while so it could chill.
Without further ado, let's jump into the tasting details, shall we?
Tasting Notes:
A pale straw-yellow hue
Strong citrus notes- think grapefruit, lemon, pear
Subtle minerality throughout
Overall, crisp, balanced wine with bright acidity and zest
It would pair nicely with goat cheese or grilled fish; excellent as a stand-alone glass
Verdict:
I still need to finish my first glass, but I am here to tell you this is one bottle that will quickly quench your thirst. And at this price point, I'd grab at least a couple of bottles because these scorching temps aren't leaving us any time soon. If you are new to white wines or haven't experimented with Sauvignon Blancs, this is a great entry-level wine and a wonderful place to begin your wine adventure.
Until Next Time!
