Hey, fellow wine lovers! Blonde Voyage Nashville here, and I have the best news ever. Aside from enjoying a long holiday weekend, I have found the wine of the summer. Yes, I realize the official “start” of summer isn’t until June, but it’s not going to stop this girl from finding the perfect wine. I popped over to Trader Joe’s today to grab a few last-minute items for Memorial Day and spotted Dr. Beckermann Liebfraumilch on one of the end caps of the wine aisle. Let’s say I am VERY familiar with the wine aisle at Trader Joe’s, and this happened to be a new bottle that I was unfamiliar with. Without hesitation, I grabbed a bottle and threw it in my basket. While putting away groceries, I threw it in the freezer so it would chill quickly and I could enjoy a glass while cooking dinner.

Y’all. This wine is absolute magic. Even though I poured a reasonable size pour for my first glass, it was gone in a matter of minutes. I’m not much of a white wine girl, but this one really spoke to me. By the time I was halfway through my second glass, I sent multiple texts to my girlfriends, letting them know I found THE wine for summer 2023!

While this wine may be practically impossible to pronounce, it’s a semi-sweet wine from Germany that resembles a Riesling but is not nearly as sweet, making it the most perfect wine for the pool, patio, or any place in between.

Before I go on and on about how amazing this bottle is, especially given the price, let’s jump into the tasting details, shall we?

Tasting Notes:

  • Hints of honeysuckle and pineapple

  • Medium sweetness

  • Well balanced with a slight acidity and crispness

  • It lands toward the drier end of the spectrum

  • Lovely to drink by itself or pair with oysters or a charcuterie board

Verdict:

What can I say? I’m not a Riesling gal. In fact, you can look at the wines I sampled and see that I am not one who gravitates towards sweeter wine, but this wine is incredibly well balanced with bright tropical fruit notes, medium-high acidity, and a sweet finish—the perfect wine to enjoy this summer. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you pick up a bottle!

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
