Hi, everyone!

It’s been WAY too long! I just returned from California, where I tasted wine up and down the central coast. It is the most fun I’ve had in quite some time. While we were tasting in Paso Robles, I had an ah-ha moment, and it reaffirmed why I started reviewing wines on my blog. The old saying goes: you can’t judge a book by its cover, and the same applies to wine, you can’t judge a wine by its price. I understand that prices of wine will vary based on the cost of production, raw materials, labor, etc. However, I think sometimes these expensive wines are overrated and overpriced simply because of the name or the packaging. I was sipping on a Pinot Noir during my one tasting that retailed for $90.00, and while it wasn’t terrible, it wasn’t something I would pay $90.00 for, and in fact, I’ve was thinking to myself the entire time that I’ve had better Pinots from Trader Joe’s and Aldi. After all, we like what we like, and it doesn’t matter what the price point is as long as it makes us happy.

Today, I bring you an interesting Rosé that caught my eye at Trader Joe’s, Giardino Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie Vivace Rosé. Even though it’s officially Fall, I drink Rosé all year long. I happened to be at a different TJ location, and this bottle caught my eye.

So forget about the pumpkin spice lattes and all the fall decor, and let’s jump into the tasting details. Shall we?

TASTING NOTES:

  • Screwcap top

  • Light Peachy-pink hue

  • Crisp and refreshing; very easy to drink

  • Slightly effervescent; bubbles when poured into the glass (nothing in the mouth)

  • Notes of peach, apple, and a hint of citrus

  • Balanced acidity; smooth, light finish

Verdict:

This was a lovely Rosé to sip on while I was cooking dinner. I enjoyed the notes of peach and citrus and the fact that it was slightly effervescent. Even though I believe in any wine at any time, this bottle would be more enjoyable by the pool as it makes me think of summer. But if your curiosity is piqued, grab a bottle the next time you are at Trader Joe’s, and let me know what you think! I think it would be perfect to pair with a salad or even a pizza. Enjoy!

Until Next Time!

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
