If you tuned in to my Instagram stories last night, you know that when it comes to rosé, I don’t discriminate. Pour me a glass of still or sparkling, and I will have a smile on my face. Keeping with the theme of all things bubbles, I selected a Brut Rosé Cremant from France to sample this week. You might be thinking, “ what the heck is Cremant?”
Honestly, I did the same thing. I had to hop on the interwebs and learn all about it. For those who are unfamiliar with this type of wine, Cremant is a group of sparkling wines made with the same technique as Champagne, but since production is outside the Champagne region, it’s called Cremant. Another way of saying fancy French bubbles, am I right?
After spending what felt like an eternity on the phone with Xfinity, I popped open this bottle and poured myself a hearty glass.
OMG. What was I drinking? It tasted as if I had opened up a tube of strawberry lotion and squirted it directly in my mouth. While I won’t go into the dramatic details, I barely finished my glass and ended up pouring the remainder of the bottle down the sink.
It’s a no for me. Rosé should be light and elegant, not like a strawberry lip smacker.
Ironically enough, the Brut Reserve was highly rated by Wine Enthusiast. Perhaps I made the wrong choice going with the Rosé, but I am not sure that I am willing to roll the dice again.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that next week’s bottle doesn’t disappoint!
Until Next Time!
