Alright, friends, I am back this week with what may be one of my favorite white wines from Trader Joe's that I’ve enjoyed all year. While this is at a slightly higher price point than what I usually review, it’s too good not to share. Today, we are tasting the 2023 vintage of La Vauvise Sancerre Le Trois Terroirs. For many, including myself, Sancerre is a wine I often drink in the warm summer months. However, there was something about this bottle that was calling to me. Maybe it was the unseasonably warm temperatures that day, but a bottle found its way into my basket and made it home.

If you’re unfamiliar with Sancerre or simply don’t order it when you’re out and about, let me share a few fun facts about one of my favorite white wines. Sancerre wine is a highly regarded white wine from the Loire Valley in France. Known for its crispness and elegance, Sancerre is primarily made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape, though small amounts of red and rosé wines produced from Pinot Noir are also crafted in the region. There are three flavor profiles:  White Sancerre, Red Sancerre, and Rosé Sancerre.

The unique terroir plays a significant role in its wine profile. Soils include chalk, limestone, and flint, which impart minerality and complexity. Hence the name, Le Trois Terroirs.

Now that you know a little more about the wine, let’s jump into the tasting details, shall we?

Tasting Notes:

  • Pale yellow hue

  • Light and bright with notes of white flowers and citrus, specifically white peaches, pears, and lemon notes

  • Faint minerality

  • Dry with medium-high acidity

Verdict:

I said it before, and I’ll say it again: this is definitely one of the best white wines I’ve purchased from Trader Joe’s in 2024. With the holidays approaching, this would be a great bottle to pick up for Thanksgiving with poultry, seafood, or salads. Hell, even if you have none of those, grab a bottle and have it while you are cooking in the kitchen! It’s well worth the price and I feel confident you will enjoy it as much as I did. If you grab a bottle, drop your comments below- I’d love your thoughts!

Until Next Time!

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
