My Newest Fitness Addiction: Cyclebar

As soon as a new workout studio makes it way to Nashville, I am usually one of the first people through the door and Cyclebar was no different. I threw caution to the wind, signed up for a Saturday morning class and hauled my tookus to Franklin.  As I entered the studio, I was greeted by the staff and instructed on how to sign in. Grabbing my shoes, I headed to my locker and then straight into the cycle theater. There were several people walking around ensuring the bikes were set up properly and riders had everything they needed.  Done.  I was clipped in a ready to ride. I've taken several spin/cycling classes in Nashville, so rather than give you the details of my ride, I thought I would tell you why Cyclebar stands out among the rest.

Stand outs:

Cyclebar provides you with clipped cycle shoes. Most cycle studios will charge you a nominal fee to rent these shoes for class, but cyclebar provides these free of charge.  If you haven't used these in the past, they are a dream!  No need to try to pedal in those worn out running shoes and you will notice that your legs get a MUCH better workout. Get ready to FEEL the burn!

Often times I will forget to grab a bottle of water before dashing off to the studio. Cyclebar offers water bottles and a water station complete with chilled and room temperature water. No need to put money on your account to buy bottles before you head into class.

Competitive?  This is TOTALLY the class for you.  Welcome to CYCLESTATS. Cyclestats measures the six key metrics of your daily and historical performance. Don't want that guy on bike 8 beating you again? Pedaling to improve your class ranking?  Throughout class, each rider ( provided they opt in) can see their bike number, trophies, power and RPMs. You really can see how you stack up against the competition.  At the end of class, each person receives an email with their stats so that they can track their fitness journey.

Reserve your spot! It's a packed house... ALWAYS!

Happy Hour and Brunch? Yes, please!  Cyclebar has incorporated the social aspect into their rides on certain days.  On Fridays and Sundays, riders can opt in for happy hour or brunch.  Trust me, you have worked for these calories! After class, snacks and wine are waiting for you. Not only can you catch your breath and commiserate with your fellow classmates about that level 15 hill that just killed you but you can enjoy a little vino while doing it.

Need a little motivation on Saturday morning?  The Concert Series is for you!  It's the same 50 minute class but the music is focused on one or two specific artists.  Think Jay Z vs. Beyonce or  a faceoff of the Justins- Timberlake vs. Bieber. What more could you want?

Inspiration:  Each instructor has his or her own style, but all provide you that inspiration that you CAN do it.  If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you!

Even thought cyclebar has only been open for a few weeks, they launched the 10 for 10 challenge. If you completed 10 rides in 20 days, they would give you 10 rides for FREE!  No brainer, if you ask me!  Yours truly finished the challenge on September 10 and I can't tell you happy my legs were.  Screaming in delight, nonetheless!

While I gave you the inside scoop on cyclebar, I didn't give away ALL of the details.  What fun would that be!  Check it out for yourself!   Use the link below to sign up for your first class. They have packages for new riders and drop in rates, in case you can't commit.  :)

Catherine Courtney

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
