Come and Get It! Biscuit Brunch @ Holler and Dash!

Holler and Dash is a fast and casual spin on the famous Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. Featuring local artisans like Olive and Sinclair and Frothy Monkey, Holler and Dash pays tribute to southern living with a biscuit inspired menu.  All of the menu items have been crafted and curated by Jason McConnell, Chef de Cuisine, and Brandon Frohne, Director of Culinary. They have done a tremendous job leveraging their southern roots, experience, and creativity to craft a menu that pays tribute to the quintessential southern staple, the biscuit.

Warning:  Don't read this on an empty stomach!

Staying true to my southern roots, I opted for the Chicken.Set.Go. After all, it had all of my favorite food groups. This biscuit was served with fried chicken and topped with pimento cheese, jalapenos and drizzled with the slightest bit of sorghum.  The sweet and savory combo was a major win for me and I loved how the flavors were layered.  Can we talk about the pickled okra on the side?  I could eat it by the jar.  I loved adding it to each bite of my biscuit.

Luckily, I have friends who are kind enough to share so I had a chance to sample several of the signature biscuits. Finding out that the Kickback Chicken was a staff favorite, we knew that one of us would have to order it. This biscuit was served with fried chicken and covered with goat cheese, green onion and sweet pepper jelly which gave it the perfect kick!

If you want to stick to those New Year Resolutions, I recommend ordering the Flying Frittata which is served with egg whites, roasted veggie frittata, kale, herbed greek yogurt and to kick it up a notch, a dash of hot sauce. Watching your calories? You can order any of the signature biscuits with only half of a biscuit or you can choose to have them served over a bed of kale. How yummy does this look!?

Last but not least, let's hit the sweet spot, shall we?  Smothered with Nutella and raspberry jam, was The Jam.  What a flavor combo! And of course you have to have a little savory to go with the sweet, so what better than a Tot Bowl to the rescue.  Melted cheddar cheese, green onion, and bacon covered each nook and cranny of the tater tots.  To top it off?  What about a little bit of the Hollerback sauce.  Perfection!

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
