A Christmas Tree Fit For A Foodie
Confession: I am one of those individuals who’s guilty of having at least 95% of my Christmas decorations up before Thanksgiving. Quite frankly, I can’t remember the last time we enjoyed turkey without a side of tinsel. But, In my defense, I come by it honestly. My mom has a penchant for decorating and goes all out when it comes to the holidays. Growing up, we always had themed trees sprinkled throughout the house.
I’ve always had one “central” tree that I decorate with my Christopher Radko ornaments that I’ve collected over the years. However, with a feisty kitten, the tree goes up, but the ornaments remain safely boxed. Over the last few years, I’ve extended my Christmas tree collection into my dining room, featuring my deliciously decorated Christmas trees filled with my favorite foodie ornaments. Until 2023, I had one tree but realized I had bought so many ornaments that I needed a second. Whoops!
What can I say? It’s a beautiful addition to my dining room as they go nicely with my signed menus from some of my most memorable meals.
From Champagne and Caviar to Tea Time at Fortnum and Mason, each tree highlights some of the most creative, comical, and marvelous foodie baubles to deck the halls.
Forget the vision of sugar plums; it’s beginning to look a lot like snack-mas!
Christmas Trees & Greenery
One of the best places to source your trees, garland, and any greenery needs is Hobby Lobby. Once they start stocking their holiday decor, keep an eye out; you can purchase almost everything you need for 50% off. Both of my trees are Ultra Slim Cashmere Bristol Pre-Lit Pines. They are seven feet tall and are the perfect size to place in each corner of my dining room. While there’s an assortment of greenery options available, most are on the skimpy side, so make sure you pick up some Holiday Picks to add to your greenery and make it more substantial. Again, if you can time it right, these are also almost always 50% off.
Champagne & Caviar Garland
Aside from adding a second tree, the Champagne and Caviar Garland was another new addition to the dining room decor. After all, who doesn’t love champagne and caviar?
I was able to source the champagne and caviar ornaments from Pottery Barn, where they are currently on major sale, and then picked up the other filler ornaments from Target. Retailers must assume that we all want shatterproof ornaments because I had a super difficult time finding nice glass ornaments this year but thank goodness Target had what I needed.
Pro-Tip: While this may be hard on your wallet, I recommend buying some extra boxes of filler ornaments. Trust me, it’s much easier to have a few in reserves. If one breaks or starts to look haggard after a few years of use, it’s much easier to pop one in that matches rather than trying to rework your entire creation.
Even though this garland started on the skinner side, the additional greenery, holiday picks, and ornaments turned it into a masterpiece.
sourcing those Fun Foodie Baubles
I’ve been collecting food ornaments for years. In fact, when I started my blog in 2016, I was gifted a few food baubles, and my collection has blossomed from there. Unless you are planning on spending a fortune, it takes time to accumulate a collection.
Nowadays, there are so many retailers who have these available, but my absolute favorite place to purchase from is Sur La Table. They have countless options, and I swear they get cuter each year. Hobby Lobby and Michaels also have a nice assortment to choose from. Lastly, check out your local gift shops. Nashville has some great places like The Golden Slipper with unique options you likely won’t see elsewhere.
Pro-Tip: Wait until after Christmas to make your purchases from Sur La Table, as they will be 50% off.
Below are some of my favorite groupings.
Clearly, I am under the London influence as my love for afternoon tea and all things British has grown exponentially this year. During my trip in October, I was thrilled to see that one of my all-time favorite stores, Fortnum and Mason, had some of their Christmas decor on display. It took me less than ninety seconds to scoop up these ornaments and head to the register. I’m obsessed.
If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know I am passionate about the perfect stack of pancakes. Since Arnold’s Country Kitchen closed earlier in the year, I’ve traveled near and far looking for the fluffiest, most tasty stack around. When I found the pancake stack at Michaels, I immediately knew it was coming home with me.
Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to share my deliciously decorated dining room. It’s not often a girl can transform a living space into a foodie paradise, complete with champagne and caviar. Here’s to combining my love of food with my love of Christmas!
Until Next Time!
