Paris | Three Parisian Stores Every Traveler Must Visit
Known as the “City of Light,” Paris has a magical blend of history, art, food, and culture that makes it unforgettable. For many, it’s the romance of strolling along the Seine, seeing the Eiffel Tower light up at night, or enjoying a leisurely coffee at a sidewalk café.
Beyond the sights and the food, two things draw people in—first, the city’s atmosphere. Paris has a unique charm, a mix of classic and modern that people can’t get enough of. Second, the shopping. From the charming boutiques tucked along the cobblestone streets to the grand department stores like Le Bon Marché, Galleries Lafayette, and the Samaritan, they feel like palaces. Needless to say, visitors experience a shopping experience that’s both timeless and trendy. Whether you’re looking for high fashion, unique vintage pieces, or simply want to peruse the flea market, Paris has it all. And lest we not forget about that incredible VAT refund upon departure that makes it that much better. There’s a sense of magic in strolling past window displays, discovering hidden gems, and even just people-watching on bustling avenues like the Champs-Élysées. Shopping in Paris isn’t just about buying things—it’s about soaking up the city’s style, elegance, and creativity.
During my visit, I found three incredible stores I want to share with you. They are perfect for picking up that Parisian souvenir for friends or family or simply wanting a keepsake from your trip.
Our first stop is the sixth arrondissement.
Located in the vibrant Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood, this boutique feels like stepping into a vintage-inspired dream. Marin Montagut is known for creating beautifully designed, handmade items—from illustrated maps and whimsical decor to delicate glassware and art prints. Each piece reflects a love for Paris, blending classic French aesthetics with a playful, contemporary twist. Even if you don’t purchase anything from the store, you must go simply for the experience. Curated and decorated with antiques, art supplies, and Parisian finds, it will make you feel as if you’ve stumbled into an artist’s Parisian private studio.
The keepsakes found here are indeed one of a kind that captures the spirit of the city in a way that is both personal and elegant. I was fortunate enough to pick up a few porcelain items, including mugs, trays, and the most darling little cups to place my rings. The staff at the store are more than prepared to wrap and pack your items so they can endure the international flight. Knowing that we are in the midst of the holiday season, Marin Montagut does offer many of his products online. If you happen to be shopping for that Francophile in your life, this is one place that you don’t want to miss.
Pro-Tip | Given this is a small boutique, Marin Montagut does not offer VAT refunds.
Our next stop is in the first arrondissement.
For all those who love the art of cooking, appreciate fine cooking utensils, or are simply trying to channel their inner Ina Garten, E. Dehillerin is for you.
Tucked away near Les Halles, this legendary cookware store has been a staple for chefs and culinary enthusiasts since 1820. Walking into E. Dehillerin feels like stepping into a piece of history with its floor-to-ceiling shelves of copper pots, carbon steel knives, and other timeless kitchen essentials. The store’s old-world charm, complete with wooden drawers and handwritten price tags, makes the experience feel authentically Parisian and refreshingly unpolished in a city of polished boutiques.
If you visit E. Dehillerin, it’s not just a cookware shop; it’s truly an experience. The customer service is unmatched, and the staff is more than willing to offer advice and help you navigate the impressive inventory. It can get a bit crowded during peak season, so my advice is to be patient. Please don’t make the same mistake as me, and bring shopping bags as the aisles are pretty small, and navigating with a bunch of bags can be quite tricky.
While I didn’t spring for any copper cookware, I upgraded my knife collection and grabbed several incredible knives. I also purchased a few small pairing knives to bring back as souvenirs for my friends and family, which were a big hit!
The staff did a remarkable job putting a cork on the tips and packaging them up so they would travel well.
Visit E. Dehillerin isn’t just about shopping. Patrons have the opportunity to connect with the heart of French culinary traditions and take home a piece of that magic to inspire their creations.
Pro-Tip | If you don’t have a customer advisor assisting you, inquire about the prices, as many of the items are unmarked. E. Dehillerin offers VAT refunds. Allow yourself some additional time for the team to process the paperwork.
Our next stop is in the second arrondissement.
If you are a stationery lover like myself, visiting Louise Carmen is like stepping into a little slice of heaven. This boutique specializes in beautifully crafted leather journals that will last a lifetime. Whether you are a fan of writing, sketching, or simply keeping organized, Louise Carmen’s products are not just practical but stylish, too.
You might be curious. What makes Louise Carmen’s products so unique?
Their journals are entirely customizable. Patrons can choose the size, the color of the leather, the type of paper, and even the charms and hot-stamping. So many decisions, to say the least. I walked in with an idea of what I wanted and slightly veered from the plan. My advisor was incredibly patient and more than willing to walk me through my options. One special touch is that you can see what the leather looks like as it patinas over time.
I chose the magnum vert and dressed it with a few travel charms. ( I’m sure it will make an appearance on Blonde Voyage Nashville very soon! )
A few things to know before you go:
Louise Carmen is gaining quite a following and popularity. I recommend arriving at least fifteen minutes before opening as there was already a queue when I arrived.
Appointments aren't required for in-store visits. However, if you aren’t visiting Paris soon and want to purchase, Louise Carmen offers video appointments where you can get a personalized experience like in-store.
Browse the website before you go, as it can be VERY overwhelming when you have so many choices.
If you choose to have your journal hot-stamped, it can take 45 minutes to an hour for the staff to complete, depending on how busy they are. This didn’t even cross my mind, so I wandered to a local cafe and enjoyed a glass of wine while they assembled my journal. This is not the worst use of my time, but if you are running on a tight schedule, it is something you should be aware of.
Each of these shops offers something truly unique, making them standout destinations for those who are passionate about craftsmanship and creativity. Visiting these shops isn’t just about buying something to take home; it’s about discovering the stories behind the items and connecting with the creative spirit of Paris. They are the kind of places where you’ll find keepsakes that carry meaning and memories, turning your trip into a story you’ll cherish for years to come.
If you make it to Paris and visit one or all of these lovely shops, let me know your thoughts in the comments below! Happy shopping!
Until Next Time!
