Stop and Smell The Rosé At Santo

Spring is officially here! While the longer days and warmer temperatures may drive some into a deep cleaning frenzy, I’ll be embracing the season with alfresco outings, rooftop cocktails, and soaking up sunsets. Come on, if you’re not perched on a patio sipping a cocktail is it even springtime in Nashville?

Take a moment and stop and smell the rosé at Santo.

Santo, located at the corner of Richard Jones and Hillsboro in Green Hills, has become one of my go-to restaurants over the last few months.

Since many of my favorite brunch spots have been taken over by woo-girls and bachelorette parties, I’ve had to seek refuge at new establishments like Santo.

Santo is one of the few restaurants in the city that serves brunch daily from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. And did I mention that brunch cocktails are two for one? That’s right, those delicious Grapefruit Spritzes and Santo Margs are two for one. If that’s not a reason to check this place out, I don’t know what is!

Santo’s menu boasts an assortment of upscale brunch dishes that are sure to make you swoon. If you prefer healthier fare, I recommend ordering the Roasted Beet Salad. The citrus notes in the dish accentuate the flavors of the beets and the goat cheese. Certainly one of my favorite salads in Nashville.

If calories don’t count and you are looking to go all in, start with the Pancake. It’s the perfect way to kick off brunch festivities, and it’s a dish that’s easily shareable. Another great dish to start with is the Hot Oysters. They are cooked with fennel leek butter and smoked gouda. Need I say more?

For those who are looking for heartier brunch fare, you can’t go wrong with the Shortrib Benedict or the Lamb Smash Burger. Both have been ordered on repeat and do not disappoint. Warning - these dishes may easily send you into a food coma. Proceed with caution.

With many of us still working remotely, it’s common to miss lunch or get roped into a meeting unexpectedly. Honestly, I barely know what day is it anymore; they all seem to run together. If you can hold on until 4:00 pm, Santo hosts an incredible Happy House that features a variety of small plates, cocktails, and wines by the glass for only $8.00. It goes without saying, Santo makes it really easy to get in trouble.

With so many beautiful days ahead, enjoy the sunshine, the two-for-one cocktails, and the amazing cuisine Santo has to offer.

Catherine Courtney

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
