Sunday Brunch At The Patterson House

New year, new me, same appetite! Am I right? While a new year can signify a fresh start for many, I’m over here planning out the most important meal of the weekend, brunch!

The Patterson House was one of the first serious cocktail bars in Nashville. Guests would endure lengthy wait times to secure a seat behind the velvet curtain and sip on curated cocktails all night long. Aside from their boozy cocktail creations, The Patterson House has always offered snacks and bites ( the tater tots and cinnamon sugar doughnuts have a special place in my heart). Occasionally, and I mean occasionally, the chef and team of the Catbird seat would do a brunch takeover. If you were one of the fortunate few who could snag a reservation, I commend you. Those opportunities were few and far between. However, during the last few days of 2020, The Patterson House announced an exciting “pandemic pivot” introducing Sunday brunch service in 2021.

Like any brunch enthusiast, I immediately got online and secured a reservation. Don’t worry, I’ve got all the deets for you.

Can I order my favorite Patterson House cocktail during brunch?

Yes. While The Patterson House has highlighted a few classic brunch cocktails, guests can still enjoy all of their favorite curated cocktails. For my Paloma fans, I recommend trying Buck’s Novices. It’s similar to a peach Paloma with a bit of spice and sass. I also enjoyed the Venetian Spritz-perfect way to start the meal.

Tell me about the menu!

Guests will see some of their favorites like the TPH Burger and the Fried Bologna Sando, but there is a nice assortment of breakfast/brunch options like the Breakfast Platter, 62’ Poached Egg, and Biscuits and Gravy. I snapped a few photographs of the menu (below), but I suspect it will evolve. To view the most recent menu, click HERE.

Were there any menu standouts or things we should avoid?

We ordered the Nduja Deviled Eggs and Yeast Doughnuts to start. I enjoyed the eggs, but in hindsight, I wish we would have ordered the Roasted Oysters. Those looked AMAZING. Maybe I’m a little adverse to change, but I much prefer the Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts on their cocktail menu to the Yeast Doughnuts we had at brunch. I definitely wouldn’t order those again.

Guests can’t go wrong with the Fried Bologna Sando, and my partner in dine enjoyed the Breakfast Platter. I sampled that loaded potato pancake, and it was delicious. Note that the Breakfast Platter is served with a biscuit. However, when we asked for jam to go with it, we were advised they didn’t really have jam. Wait, what? I realize I am not crunching at Cracker Barrel (no offense), but aren’t biscuits typically served with some sort of spread (butter, honey, fruit-based jam). It’s like serving pancakes without syrup! Our server informed us that bacon and tomato jams were available, but would have taken a considerable amount of time to get as they were only available during dinner, so my partner in dine passed.

How much is this going to set me back?

Cocktails range from $13.00-$15.00. For those of you who are partaking in “Dry January,” non-alcoholic beverages are available for $5.00. Entrees and shareable dishes range from $8.00- $15.00 while sides are $4.00. After we ordered cocktails, a couple of shareable items, and our entrees, we each paid $64.00 (including gratuity). Certainly not an inexpensive brunch, but worth it to rid ourselves of the Sunday Scaries.

Tell me again, when can I brunch at The Patterson House?

Patterson House brunch is available only on Sundays from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. While walk-ins can likely be accommodated, I recommend making reservations HERE.

It’s hard to believe that we survived 2020. Let’s start 2021 off by supporting local restaurants like The Patterson House. They serve great food and strong cocktails, exactly what you need to rid yourself of the Sunday Scaries. Perhaps, I’ll see you there!

Until Next Time!

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
