Hello friends! It's been way too long since I shared my last wine review. I traveled to Portland at the end of July, which I HIGHLY recommend, by the way. Ever since my wine cooler and cabinets have had no vacancy signs flashing. It was my first time visiting Willamette Valley, and y'all, I was blown away. I've been to Bordeaux, Napa, and Sonoma, and Willamette Valley was absolutely incredible, so much so that I am already plotting my return. If you are curious and want to learn more, read my most recent blog post HERE.

Even though I tried my hardest to resist Trader Joe's and grocery shopping in general, a girl needed to replenish her pantry and fridge before becoming acquainted with my old friend, Nashville International Airport.

While I did my damnedest to resist the wine aisle, I couldn't stop my cart from wandering over. And I'm forever thankful as I picked up three new wines to share with you all, the first being the Amuse Bouche Pet-Nat from Pierre Antonin in France. Perhaps you stumbled upon their other Pet-Nat in Trader Joe's last year, but this was the first time I had encountered their Sparkling Rosé. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to chill and bottle and try it out.

For those unfamiliar with Pet-Nat, it's the most natural way to create a sparkling wine or a wine with bubbles. Using the Méthode ancestrale method, the winemaker can make the wine in a single fermentation. They do so by stopping the alcoholic fermentation in the process and restarting it in the bottle at a later stage, capturing the effervescence.

Admittedly, I'm thrilled to see Trader Joe's expand its wine selection to include wines like Pet-Nat and Skin Contact, as that's currently trending. Finding a great bottle of either of these wines for less than $15.00/bottle is incredible.

Without further ado, let's jump into the tasting details. Shall we?

Tasting Notes:

  • Geranium hue

  • Effervescent while being poured into the glass; however, that subsides significantly upon consumption.

  • Slight haziness in the glass

  • Notes of white peach, grapefruit, and a hint of raspberry

  • Dry finish and is VERY easy to drink

Verdict:

What can I say? I am thrilled that Trader Joe's is extending its wine selection to include Pet-Nat. This particular bottle is refreshing and flavorful without trying too hard. To be clear, this doesn't have the effervescence of Champagne or Sparkling Wine, so if you want something similar, I'd choose something different. However, this is a great bottle to enjoy with various cheeses like burrata, mozzarella, or even a spicy cheddar. It's also recommended to pair this with seafood such as shrimp. I suspect that this is a seasonal item, so if you grab a bottle and enjoy it - head back and grab a couple more before they sell out until 2025.

Until Next Time!

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
