Hello, fellow wine lovers! I hope 2025 is off to a great start for each of you. I’m curious: how many of you have already broken one of your New Year’s resolutions? I’ve found that oftentimes, some are harder than others to stick with. Healthy eating, what?

For those not embracing dry January or cutting back on wine consumption for the year, I have a new bottle to share: Bar Dog Cabernet Sauvignon.

I love a cute wine label, and when I saw the Bar Dog label with the little pup on the front, I had to go over it and check it out. As I read the label, I discovered that a portion of the proceeds are donated to animal rescues. <Immediatley places in cart> As if I needed another reason to purchase this!

Over the last few months, I’ve had some hit-and-misses with wine, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that this one is a hit!

Let’s jump into the tasting details, shall we?

Tasting Notes:

  • Deep ruby hue with hints of garnet at the edge

  • On the nose, aromas of blackberries and ripe plums, with hints of cocoa and vanilla-maybe even a subtle touch of toasted oak and black pepper

  • Medium- full-bodied profile with smooth tannins

  • Velvety texture

Verdict:

Even without trying Bar Dog Cabernet Sauvignon, I fell in love with it because a portion of the proceeds are donated to animal rescues. However, I fell for it a little harder once I poured my first glass. It’s rich, smooth, and easy to drink. Whether you enjoy it alongside a steak, cheeseburger, or one that you sip solo, it’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser. I like to think of this wine as one of my well-rounded friends who wears glasses and is kind of bookish yet approachable in any social setting.
