Happy Thursday, Wine Lovers! If you’ve read my blog, you know I love wine from Italy, especially from Puglia. One of my most popular wine recommendations from Trader Joe’s is the Ruggero Di Bardo Susumaniello, which you can read about HERE. Believe me when I tell you it’s one of the best. Since discovering this wine, I have had difficulty finding any wine that truly compares… That is, until I tried Patroferno Appassimento Puglia Primitivo. Y’all, I opened this bottled and was blown away. Let’s get into it, shall we?

First things first, this bottle is priced at $12.99, and quite frankly, it drinks like a $25.00-$30.00 bottle of wine. You could easily grab and take this to a dinner party or a girl’s night out and impress the guest list.

For those early on in their wine adventure, you might be wondering what Primitivo is. Primitivo is simply Italian Zinfandel. Puglia, located in the heel of Italy’s boot, is renowned for their Primitivo wine. When Primitivo was brought to the United States, it was rebranded as Zinfindel and became extremely popular in California.

Tasting Notes:

  • Produced using the Appassimento technique

  • Full-bodied wine

  • Bright garnet hue

  • Sweet berry notes (dark red cherries, blackberries, and hints of blueberries) on the nose; delicious jammy flavors- hints of sweetness throughout

  • Feels exceptionally smooth in the mouth, with minimal/soft tannins.

  • Rich, luscious flavors

Verdict:

Y’all, this bottle is clearly a winner, but you will have to keep your eyes open for it. I found this early in January, grabbed a bottle, and fell absolutely in love. I desperately wanted to share it with you all, but the stock was completely wiped out when I returned to get another bottle. If you spot this at your local Trader Joe’s, grab a couple of bottles, and if it’s unavailable, I’ve found they are more than willing to let you know when it will be back in stock. If you grab a bottle, drop your thoughts below! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

Until Next Time!

Welcome to Blonde Voyage Nashville!

I am so excited to finally see this dream become a reality.  Between the destination restaurants, the copious amount of food photos and insanely crazy travel stories, I have decided to share my journey.

My name is Catherine Courtney and I am a Nashville native with a penchant for culinary creativity and epic travel adventures. I'll admit... I also have a slight obsession with handbags.

Two years ago, my life changed completely.  Everything that I knew to be was completely turned upside down.  I quickly realized that time is our greatest commodity and it's not to be taken for granted. I couldn't wait for the perfect time, who knew when that would be.  I needed to take the leap and explore the world on my own.  There were so many places I wanted to go, but where would I start.

France was always one of those places that I had romanticized.  Wandering the streets of Paris and seeing the Eiffel tower were at the top of my list. Without hesitation, I booked a two week trip to the French Rivera and Paris.  It was a journey of a lifetime.  Not only were amazing friendships cultivated, but it was on that trip that i discovered that food and travel are the embers that that keep my soul on fire.

It wasn't until I arrived back in Nashville with my passport that I realized I had been bit. Wanderlust had completely taken over.  I already started thinking about where I wanted to go next.  It was then that I decided that it was more important to have camera full of photos and a tattered journal full of stories than anything else. My heart was overflowing.

One of my favorite quotes that resonates is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland:

"Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures...."

Join me as I explore near and far away places, filling my passport full of stamps and satiating my appetite with some of the most amazing cuisine the world has to offer.

Thanks for reading!
