Friends, it was a great day to go shopping at Trader Joe’s. Why, you might ask? Not only did I spot three new bottles of wine, including a new rosé and natural malbec, but I also got my hands on a new skin-contact wine.
<insert obnoxious clapping here>
The Puppet, which I reviewed in March, has been one of my most popular posts, with thousands of you reading it. While it hit many markets in 2023, it FINALLY made it to Nashville earlier this year, only to sell out repeatedly. So, you can imagine my excitement when I happened upon Slice in the new item section of the store. If someone had seen me, they would have laughed hysterically. It was as if my shopping cart had a magnet as I went straight to the wine. While Slice is slightly more expensive than The Puppet, I took a chance and grabbed a few bottles because this girl cannot say no to skin-contact wine.
Of course, I love the simplicity of the label, only to flip it around and see eleven different grape varietals, many of which I’ve never even heard of. Quite the juxtaposition if you ask me.
Once I got home, I immediately started chilling the wine. Nothing was getting in my way of having a glass of this. But before I bore you with my play-by-play, let’s jump into the tasting details, shall we?
Tasting Notes:
Medium Orange Hue: Could almost be confused for a rosé ( in fact, I almost missed it as it was well camouflaged
Notes of apricots and notes of tropical fruit/citrus like mango or mandarin
Dry with light acidity.
Velvety mouthfeel
Verdict:
Slice did not disappoint, and it could be the unofficial wine of the summer. It’s perfect to sip by the pool on a summer’s day or one simply to enjoy from the comfort of your couch. No matter where you imbibe, it’s sure to leave a smile on your face. Seeing as I haven’t stopped The Puppet on shelves in Nashville for a few weeks, I’d grab a few bottles and stock up. If you enjoy light, bright wine, this bottle is for you. Grab a bottle, and let me know what you think!
Until Next Time!
